Lower Saxony Institute for Early Childhood Education and Development

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lower Saxony Institute for Early Childhood Education and Development (nifbe) was founded in 2007 in the legal form of a registered association and is largely funded by the State of Lower Saxony . The main goal of the institute is to support the professionalization of the elementary sector through the mutual transfer between practice and research as well as the networking and interdisciplinary dialogue between the various actors in the field. Within the scope of changing educational focuses, the nifbe offers free qualifications for daycare centers and early childhood education professionals in cooperation with regional training providers. Since 2016, the nifbe has consisted of a transfer and coordination center in Osnabrück and five regional transfer offices in Lower Saxony. From 2008 to 2015, the nifbe, as an affiliated institute of the University of Osnabrück, also researched early childhood education and development within the framework of four research centers with the following focuses:

  • "Development, Learning and Culture"
  • "Perception, movement and psychomotor skills"
  • "Talent research and promotion
  • "Elementary and Primary Education"

Every two years the institute organizes the “Moving Childhood” congress together with the University of Osnabrück, which is Germany's largest event on early childhood education with around 3,000 participants (educators, teachers and social workers as well as doctors and psychologists). In 2011, the former Federal President Christian Wulff opened the congress.
