Nihil obstat
Nihil obstat (Latin for "there is nothing opposing") means a kind of declaration of no objection, especially in church procedures of the Catholic Church :
- when issuing a print permit, see imprimatur
- when issuing a teaching permit, see Missio canonica
- at the opening of a beatification process
- before a church wedding where no civil marriage has previously taken place
