Nihon Ita Glass KK ( Japanese 日本 板 硝 子 株式会社 , Nihon Ita Garasu Kabushiki kaisha , English Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. , abbreviated: NSG ), listed on Nikkei 225 , is a Japanese company based in Minato , Tokyo , which is active in glass production and refining and belongs to the Sumitomo Group .

In March 2006, the board of directors of Pilkington plc recommended that shareholders accept a takeover offer made by NSG. On April 19, 2006, the shareholders approved this proposal at an extraordinary general meeting.

With the takeover of the English company Pilkington , the company becomes one of the world's two largest glass manufacturers. In addition, the world's second largest Japanese company in glass production, Asahi Glass, competes .
