Nik Halik (* 15. May 1969 in Melbourne as Nikos Halikopoulos ) is an Australian financial entrepreneur, motivational speaker and adventurer. In 2008 he was a substitute for the American-British entrepreneur Richard Garriott , who flew to the International Space Station (ISS) from October 12 to 24, 2008 .

Life

Earlier life

Halik was born in Melbourne, Australia, the youngest son of the Greek immigrants Konstantinos and Dionisia Halikopoulos. He grew up in Port Melbourne. In previous years he was very interested in music, inspired by his father who was a recognized musician. As a teenager, he attended the Musicians Institute in California , a privately owned, nonprofit music college.

Halik paid to attend cosmonaut training for the Russian Soyuz TMA-13 flight to the International Space Station in 2008 as a backup .
