The Nike Viper I was an American sounding rocket .

According to the Encyclopedia Astronautica the Nike Viper I consisted of a Nike - starting stage and a Viper school . The peak height of the Nike Viper is said to have been 80 kilometers, with a starting thrust of 217.00 kN, a starting mass of 600 kilograms and a length of 8.00 meters.

commitment

In the course of 1960 four copies of the type were launched. Point Arguello , part of Vandenberg Air Force Base since July 1964, served as the launch site .
