Nikolay Milkov

Nikolay Milkov ( Bulgarian Николай Милков Nikolaj Milkow ; born October 20, 1953 in Varna , Bulgaria ) is a German-Bulgarian philosopher and associate professor at the University of Paderborn .

Life

Nikolay Milkov studied philosophy at Sofia University from 1974 to 1978 . From 1979 to 1983 he was a doctoral student at the Lomonossow University in Moscow with a thesis on "Critical Analysis of the Philosophy of Logical Atomism ". From August 1983 Milkov held a research position at the Institute for Philosophy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and from October 1989 he was a “Research Fellow” at Bielefeld University , first as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow , later as a Fritz Thyssen fellow. During this time Milkov worked on the project "History of Analytical Philosophy". In Michaelmas and Lent Terms 1990/91 Milkov was “Visiting Philosopher” at the “Sub-Faculty of Philosophy”, University of Oxford . In 2005/06 he was a visiting fellow at the Center for Scientific Philosophy, University of Pittsburgh.

From 2007 to 2009 Milkov worked on the research project on the "Berlin Group" of logical empiricists around Hans Reichenbach , supported by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Milkov has been a research assistant since 2007 and has been a teacher for special tasks at the University of Paderborn since 2011. In 2009 he completed his habilitation. In 2012 he accepted the invitation from McMaster University in Canada as “Bertrand Russell Visiting Professor”. He has been an adjunct professor in Paderborn since 2015.
