Nikon F90X

The Nikon F90 was produced from 1992 to 2001. She was a semi-professional AF - SLR camera for small format films , succeeding the Nikon F-801 on.

The F90 came on the market in several model variants, for example the F90D with standard data backplane MF-25, the F90S with standard multifunctional backplane MF-26, and the fundamentally improved Nikon F90X .

description

The technical innovation was the introduction of a 3D matrix exposure measurement . The matrix measurement divided the measuring field into eight zones in which brightness and contrast are measured. A third parameter is added to the 3D matrix measurement - the distance to the subject. This information could be transmitted to the microcomputer when using the new D lenses . In this way, he was able to draw conclusions about the position and distance of the main object and thus weight the data of the individual exposure metering fields accordingly.

With the F90, the first D lenses appeared at the same time, namely the AF Nikkor 28-70mm / 3.5-4.5 D, the AF Nikkor 35-70mm / 2.8D and the AF Nikkor 80-200mm / 2.8 D ED.

Since the Nikon F4 , built for professionals, had a slower auto focus, it was the Nikon camera with the fastest auto focus until the Nikon F5 was released in 1996.
