The nora systems GmbH is a German company with headquarters in Weinheim ad Bergstraße . The company is a manufacturer of floor coverings and systems as well as shoe components made of rubber and employs more than 1000 people. The turnover generated in 2017 was 229.1 million euros. Today around 850 employees work at the headquarters in Weinheim, which is also the development and production site and the administrative headquarters. This makes nora systems the second largest employer in Weinheim an der Bergstrasse. Production takes place exclusively at the headquarters in Weinheim. Nora systems is active in over 80 countries worldwide and has branches in 16 countries, including a. in Europe, Asia and North America.
history
The company's history began in 1938 with the production of shoe soles. The company has been producing rubber floor coverings since 1949, which today make up the majority of sales under the nora umbrella brand . From the 1980s, international growth markets were opened up. Own agencies have been established worldwide. Until 2007 the company operated under the name Freudenberg Bausysteme KG. Nora systems GmbH was created in 2007 through a private equity buyout from the Freudenberg Group .
In 2012, nora systems hit the headlines because, for the first time in the company's history, a works council member was dismissed without notice with the approval of the works council. Before that, he was expelled from the works council, to which he was a member for 31 years. The termination without notice, as well as the exclusion from the BR committee, was later withdrawn.
Products
The company develops and sells rubber floor coverings in tile and sheet form with a total of 18 different designs and more than 300 standard colors. There are also custom-made products, shaped stairs and a range of accessories. Since 2010, the company has been the only provider on the market with nora system blue, a sustainable flooring system certified by TÜV Rheinland . Nora system blue combines low-emission nora rubber floor coverings with low-emission installation materials. All system components have been awarded "The Blue Angel" and are also tested in conjunction with one another. Nora floor coverings made of rubber do not require any additional coatings or paintwork. At the same time, nora holds seminars in order to lay and clean the floor coverings as required.

Nora products are internationally certified, e.g. B. for the environmental management system (EEC 761/2001) and are regularly checked by independent institutes. Nora systems GmbH is one of the initiators of the German Society for Sustainable Building (DGNB) and can refer to environmental product declarations / EPDs ( Environmental Product Declarations ) in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14025 in the area of elastic floor coverings . The products have had the “Blue Angel” environmental seal since 2006 . The company is also a member of the US Green Building Council .
