North Arabic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In classifications of the Semitic languages, North Arabic is the Arabic language with its historical levels and dialects, including the Old North Arabic languages , in order to distinguish them from the extinct Old South Arabic languages and the New South Arabic languages that still exist today . Both the Old South Arabic languages and the New South Arabic languages are not closely related to the language that is commonly called "Arabic" today. "Arabic" in this context indicates the distribution on the Arabian Peninsula and not a relationship with the (Northern) Arabic language.
