The standards committee for materials technology (NWT) in the DIN German Institute for Standardization e. V. is responsible for national, European and international standardization in the fields of powder metallurgy, heat treatment technology and laser technology.

The NWT celebrates its 40th birthday in 2013.

Standard areas

The following standardization work is carried out in the field of powder metallurgy:

  • Standardization of terms,
  • Material properties,
  • Material treatment and processing and
  • required test procedures for powder, sintered metals and hard metals.

In the field of heat treatment technology, the standardization of

  • Heat treatment process,
  • Test procedures and
  • Requirements for heat treatment systems and heat treatment agents.
