The Office national de l'eau et de l'assainissement , commonly known under the abbreviation ONEA , is the state water supply company of the West African state of Burkina Faso .

The ONEA was founded by decree on July 22, 1985 after the Sankarist Revolution and replaced its predecessor, the Société nationale des eaux (SNE) .

At the end of the 1990s, it was restructured and reorganized against the background of the accumulated debt of around 3 billion CFA francs.

The ONEA's current specification includes the water supply to Burkina Faso with drinking water as well as the discharge and treatment of wastewater .
