Joaquim Adão (born July 14, 1992 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a Swiss - Angolan football player who has been under contract with the Swiss super-league club FC Sion for the second time since August 2015 . He usually plays in defensive midfield and has been an Angola international since 2014.

Club career

FC Sion II

From the 2009/10 season Joaquim Adão was part of the squad of the second team from FC Sion . He made his debut in the first division on August 9, 2009 in the 1: 4 win against SC Düdingen . Adão celebrated his first goal in the 2-1 defeat against FC Echallens , when he scored 1-0 in the 14th minute. FC Sion finished the 2011/12 season in first place and thus made it to the Promotion League , which is the third highest league in Switzerland. During the season, Adão made 22 appearances and scored one goal. He made his debut in the Promotion League on August 7, 2012 in a 3-0 win over Yverdon-Sport FC .

FC Sion

The then coach Didier Tholot let Adão appear for the first time on May 16, 2015 in a 5-1 win against FC St. Gallen . He was also allowed to play a game for the first team in the 2012/13 season. It was not until the 2012/13 season that he was promoted to the first team and was officially part of the squad.

Loan to FC Chiasso

On July 5, 2013, Adão became the then Swiss second division club FC Chiasso . Under the then coach Ernestino Ramella, he celebrated his debut in the Challenge League in a 3-1 defeat against FC Vaduz on July 14, 2013 . The loan ended on December 31, 2013.

Stations in Angola

After his loan to FC Chiasso, Adão did not return to FC Sion, but moved to the Angolan football club Progresso Associação do Sambizanga , which is in the top division of Angola called Girabola . After exactly one year he left the club and moved to local rivals Kabuscorp FC do Palanca .

Return to Sion

On August 4, 2015, Adão returned from Angola to Switzerland for FC Sion. He played his first game after his return for the second team on August 22, 2015 in a 1-1 draw against the second team of FC St. Gallen . He celebrated his return to the first team with a 2-0 win in the second round of the Swiss Cup against FC Münsingen and his comeback in the Super League on November 1, 2015 in a 3-0 defeat against FC Contest Lugano . Adão played his first international game in the goalless draw against Liverpool in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League .

National team career

Joaquim Adão was called up to the Angolan national team for the first time for a friendly against Iran and in the goalless draw on May 30, 2015, he was also allowed to play his first game for Angola. He played his first competitive game on September 6, 2015 in the 1-0 defeat against Gabon in qualifying for the Africacup.
