The graphic designer of the logo for the pioneers' meeting was created by Horst Naumann

From 1923 to 1925 Horst Naumann trained with the painter Johannes Uhlig in Dresden. He then studied until 1927 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden with Professors Richard Müller , Hermann Dittrich and Otto Dix . At the State Academy for Applied Arts in Dresden, specializing in decorative painting, he was a master student of Professor Paul Rößler from 1927 to 1930. In 1934 his only son was born.

In 1927 Horst Naumann joined the KPD. When the Association of Revolutionary Visual Artists was founded in the Dresden area in 1929 , he became a member of this artist movement alongside artists such as Herbert Gute , Otto Griebel , Hans and Lea Grundig , Wilhelm Lachnit , Curt Querner and was responsible for the student newspaper “stoß from the left". During this time his oil painting “Weimar Carnival” was created. Today it can be seen in the New Masters Gallery of the Dresden State Art Collections . He was also an employee of the Association of Victims of Labor and War, where he worked for the “Rentenquetsche”. He also worked as a press illustrator for the “ Rote Fahne ”, the “Arbeiterstimme” and the “Volksstimme”. With his event poster “Revolution rally” created in 1931, a series of politically oriented posters began.

In 1930/1931 he worked at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden, from 1931 to 1937 as a commercial artist for the AG für Künstl [Niedersedlitz]. In 1934 Horst Naumann was arrested by the National Socialists and served a six-month prison term as a political prisoner in the "Mathilde" in Dresden. From 1939 to 1943 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and was assigned to the 999 penalty battalion . From 1943 to 1945 Horst Naumann was drafted as a standard draftsman for the Phenomen-Werke Gustav Hiller AG Zittau and the Ernemann-Werke in Dresden. After 1945 he worked as a freelance poster and advertising designer in Dresden. Since 1952 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists (VBK) in Dresden.

One of his first post-war posters, "Das Neue Dresden 1946", was created for an exhibition of plans for the reconstruction and rebuilding of Dresden. His advertising media for zoological gardens, consumption and the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden are particularly remembered . He achieved a high level of awareness through his numerous stamp series, which have been awarded the "Golden Postage Stamp" several times. In addition, he also made designs for illuminated advertisements or wall paintings for guest rooms, e.g. B. the Ratskeller Dresden (1964–1966) or the night dance bar Gondel in the Dresden secondary school (1968). He also designed postcards, stationery and much more.
