Hans Grundig Medal

The Hans Grundig Medal was an award given by the Association of Visual Artists in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) . The award winners included well-known visual artists, cultural politicians and art scholars. The medal was donated as the highest honor of the association on the occasion of its 30th anniversary on June 7, 1982. The award was made by the president of the association.

Appearance and wearing style

The obverse of the non-wearable medal with a diameter of 79 mm shows the portrait of Hans Grundig looking to the right from the viewer and his name underneath: HANS GRUNDIG . The reverse of the medal shows the inscription VERBAND / BILDENDER / KÜNSTLER / DER / DEUTSCHEN / DEMOKRATISCHEN / REPUBLIK in the center .
