Paul Roessler

Paul Rößler (born July 1, 1873 in Leipzig , † July 29, 1957 in Heidelberg ; full name: Otto Paul Rößler ) was a German painter and restorer as well as a university professor .

Life

Rößler studied painting at the academies in Leipzig and Dresden. From 1904 he taught as a lecturer, from 1912 as a professor at the Dresden School of Applied Arts , from which the State Academy of Applied Arts emerged in 1920 , which was integrated into the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts during Rößler's lifetime .

In 1906 Rößler was awarded a gold medal at the 3rd German Applied Arts Exhibition in Dresden.

Rößler was a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund and since 1913 at the latest in the Deutscher Werkbund . At the end of the 1920s he was the second chairman of the Dresden Artists' Association .
