Johannes Uhlig (born July 13 or 17, 1869 in Hainichen , Saxony , † after 1939 in Weimar ?) Was a German romantic painter .

Life

Uhlig initially studied from 1885 to 1890 at the Royal Art Academy and School of Applied Arts in Leipzig (No. 1487) and from 1891 to 1892 at the Dresden Art Academy (student number 2870). In 1893 he continued his education in Waimar and in 1894 he was at the Vienna Art Academy , where he successfully completed his studies in painting. He then settled in Dresden at Gerokstraße 46 and had a studio for portrait painting , photographic enlargements and art photography at Holbeinstraße 40. The painter and graphic artist Horst Naumann trained with him from 1923 to 1925 in Dresden . Uhlig later settled in Weimar. He became known for his portrait painting in oil.
