Ermir Lenjani (born August 5, 1989 in Pristina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a football player with Kosovar , Swiss and Albanian citizenship. The defender was under contract with FC Sion in the Super League .

Career

society

Ermir Lenjani started playing football at FC Tössfeld before moving to the youth department at FC Winterthur . In 2008 he made his debut in the first team. In 2010 Lenjani moved to Grasshoppers Zurich for a few months before returning to FCW. During the winter break of the 2012/2013 season, Lenjani moved to FC St. Gallen in the Super League and made his debut on February 16, 2013 against FC Sion .

At the end of the season, FCSG qualified for the UEFA Europa League thanks to third place . In the coming season, after the departure of Pa Modou Jagne , Lenjani became a regular as a left full-back. Lenjani scored his first goal in the Super League away from home in a 1-0 win over current leaders Grasshoppers Zurich.

In January 2015 Lenjani moved from FC St. Gallen to Stade Rennes and was loaned to FC Nantes for one year in the summer of 2015 . For the 2017/18 season he moved back to Switzerland to FC Sion , where he signed a three-year contract until June 2022. On March 18, 2020, he was terminated without notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

National team

In 2012 he was invited to the Albanian national team . In the autumn he received a squad for the Albanian national team for the first time. A year later in September 2013 he played an international match for the first time, which Albania won away against Portugal . On October 11, 2014, he scored his first international goal against Denmark  in the home game in Elbasan .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 he was included in the Albanian squad and was also in the regular squad in all three European Championship games. As one of the two worst thirds in the group, the team did not survive the preliminary round.
