The North Mississippi Allstars are a blues - rock - jam band from Hernando , Mississippi . The band has been nominated three times for a Grammy so far , their 2005 album Electric Blue Watermelon reached first place on the Billboard Blues Charts.

The band consists of the brothers Luther (guitar, vocals, cigar box guitar) and Cody Dickinson (drums) and Ron Johnson (bass). The latter replaced Chris Chew in 2015. The second guitarist Duwayne Burnside has already left the band. Burnside is the son of blues legend R. L. Burnside , who himself played on some of the band's songs.

Guitarist Luther Dickinson played in 2007 the lead guitar on the album Warpaint the Black Crowes and increased in 2008 as a live guitarist one in the band. He replaces Marc Ford , who left the band in 2006 and was temporarily replaced by Paul Stacey .

Cody Dickinson started a side project called Hill Country Revue with musicians Chris Chew, Kirk Smithhart, Ed Cleveland and Daniel Robert Coburn.
