North West , until 1996 Western Transvaal , is a South African cricket team based in Potchefstroom that took part in professional national competitions until October 2004. From then on they became part of the Highveld Lions with Gauteng , and continued to play under the name North West in the second-rate South African competitions.

history

North West barely managed to establish itself at the highest level. In 1998/99 it was possible to move up to the highest division of South African cricket, but there was no success. In the 2003/04 season the provincial teams were merged and North West formed the Highveld Lions together with Gauteng. In the first-class and List A competitions of the now semi-professional provincial teams, North West has not yet been successful.

Stages

Since 1999 the team has mainly used Senwes Park in Potchefstroom as their home stadium.
