Northland is an outdoor clothing and equipment manufacturer from Austria with headquarters in Graz . The company was founded in 1973 by Gerwalt Pichler, who organized expeditions to the highest mountains in the world. Dissatisfied with the equipment of the participants, he began to develop clothing and equipment himself.
Pichler chose the name Northland based on the Northland region in the north of New Zealand , which is considered an outdoor paradise.
Northland is represented in over 30 countries worldwide with monobrand stores and shop-in-shop and employs 150 people in Austria, 700 worldwide (as of 2010). The company is 100% family owned. Products include clothing, shoes, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, travel bags, camping items and accessories.
