Nozema

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nozema (abbreviation of NV Gemengd Bedrijf Nederlandsche Omroep Zendermaatschappij ) was a state-owned company in the Netherlands that was responsible for the operation of transmitter systems and existed from 1935 to 2004.

Founded in 1935 by the government with a capital of one million guilders , the company was originally the only licensed operator of transmission systems for radio and later television in the Netherlands. Nozema operated its own transmitter masts , such as the well-known Gerbrandytoren between Lopik and IJsselstein in the province of Utrecht.

When the privatization of television prevailed around 1990 , Nozema lost its monopoly . The state company was dissolved in 2004.
