Ntfsprogs is a collection of free programs to manage NTFS - file systems .

Ntfsprogs supports all NTFS versions, both 32 and 64 bit Windows . On April 12, 2011 it was announced that ntfsprogs had been absorbed into NTFS-3G .

Programs included

  • ntfsresize, For the non-destructive resizing an NTFS - Partition
  • ntfsclone, for uncompressed, but space-efficient copies of NTFS partitions. There is no image - verification supported.
  • mkntfs, for creating NTFS partitions
  • ntfsmount, to include in FUSE
  • ntfsfix, prompts Windows to check the NTFS partition when it boots
  • ntfsundelete, restores a file
  • ntfsdecrypt, decrypted EFS
  • ntfsck, performs a consistency check (development has been discontinued).

Other programs are included that are very simple in function and / or for developers.
