Nyxus

Nyxus is the name for the light observation equipment used by the Bundeswehr's Joint Fire Support Teams .

The name is derived from the Greek goddess of the night. The predecessor system was the portable target location device TZG 90 A1. With Nyxus the artillery observers of the Bundeswehr achieve night combat capability for the first time.

In contrast to its predecessor, the Nyxus is equipped with a GPS receiver . It enables armored vehicles to be identified up to a distance of 2500 m, detection up to 3800 m and discovery up to 7000 m per day, which is a significant advance.

Nyxus weighs 4.8 kg with dimensions 28 × 29 × 21 cm. The measurement accuracy in the distance range is +/- 10 m at 5000 m.
