The interface called O3D was designed as a browser plug-in , and development of the plug-in has now been discontinued. The interface is now being further developed as a pure JavaScript library that implements WebGL for 3D display . This has the advantage that no plug-in needs to be installed in WebGL-capable web browsers to display the content. In this context, the interface was renamed to o3d .
