OH 231.8 + 4.2 (in English also Calabash Nebula or Rotten Egg Nebula ) is a protoplanetary nebula in the constellation aft deck of the ship in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 5000 light years from the Sun and has a maximum extent of about 1.4 ly.
