The top division in football of Gozo is known as the Gozo Football League First Division . The league was founded in 1937 as the Gozitan First Division and since then a championship has been held with a few interruptions. Below the Onvol First Division there is the Sprite Second Division .
In the Onvol First Division 3 rounds are played, so that each team plays three times against each other team. At the end of the season, the last club is relegated to the Sprite Second Division and the winner of the second division is promoted. A relegation game will take place between the penultimate in the first and second in the second division.
The main venue for the ONVOL First Division games is the Gozo Stadium .
