OUFTI-1 is a Belgian nanosatellite that was designed and built by the University of Liège. The name of the satellite, OUFTI, is both an abbreviation of Orbital Utility For Telecommunication Innovation and an allusion to the Liège expression “oufti” (“Phew!”). OUFTI-1 tested the D-STAR protocol in orbit. Furthermore, the satellite tested an innovative energy supply system contributed by Thales Alenia Space . The telemetry was transmitted in the AX.25 protocol.
mission
D-Star ONE was launched on April 25, 2016 together with the main payloads Sentinel-1 B and MicroSCOPE as well as two other small satellites (e @ star 2 and AAUSat 4) with the VS-14 mission of the Soyuz-2-1a Fregat-M from Russian Cosmodrome Vostochny launched. The launch was part of the ESA's Fly Your Satellite program , which enables institutions in the member countries to build and launch smaller satellites.
