The Oak Knoll Cemetery is a burial ground in the small Texas town of Bellville , Texas . It is on the eastern edge of the city south of East Main Street.

history

In 1848 the settler Frederick William (1800-1854) and his wife Marie Louise Starke (1827-1894) purchased 697 acres of land in Bellville. After William's death, he was buried on his land on the east side of the house. His widow married John Siegfried (1821-1894) the following year.

When the city needed space for burials, the Siegfrieds offered their land. In 1870 they gave a small plot of land to the fathers of three deceased children. After the sale of more grave plots, an association was founded in 1889, which has since taken care of the financing and maintenance of the cemetery.

In 2001 the cemetery was granted Historic Texas Cemetery status.
