Route of the trolleybus Krasnodon

The Krasnodon trolleybus is an important means of public transport both within the Ukrainian city of Krasnodon and a connection to the neighboring city of Molodohwardijsk . The Krasnodon trolleybus network is the furthest east in Ukraine. Two lines are operated, the length of the overhead line is 36.6 kilometers.

history

In 1984 plans arose to connect Krasnodon and Molodohwardijsk with the Samsoniwska-Sachidna shaft northwest of the latter. The connection between the two cities was to be implemented as the first stage of expansion. Construction work began in 1986, and on December 30, 1987, trolleybus operation with line 1 began. The route follows the main extension of Krasnodon from the southeast (wul. Tschkalowa) to the north along the M 04 trunk road and then as an overland line on this road to Molodohwardijsk. In Molodohwardijsk a large loop is driven through, which encloses a large part of the city with a length of about one kilometer. An inner-city traffic task in Molodohwardijsk is not intended for the trolleybus, since all stops are in the course of the loop. There are no stops between the two cities.

In 1988 line 2 of the wul. Chkalowa up to the intermediate loop Promyslova on the northern outskirts of Krasnodon. In 1990 a branch line to Kwartal Barakowa was opened. From here line 3 to Molodohwardijsk and line 4 to Wuiza Tschkalowa were set up. This completed the expansion of the network, the originally intended connection of the Samsoniwska-Sachidna shaft was not implemented. In 1990 the following lines operated:

1 wul. Chkalowa – Molodohwardijsk

2 wul. Chkalowa – Promyslova

3 Kwartal Barakowa – Molodohwardijsk

4 wul. Tschkalowa – Kwartal Barakowa

Line 2 was shut down again in the 1990s. Line 3 was limited to rush hour and closed completely around 2010. However, in 2013 it was still mentioned on the posting timetables with few trips.

Krasnodon has been in the area of influence of the Lugansk People's Republic since April 2014 . On August 10, 2014, trolleybus 034 was completely destroyed in a collision with a tank, killing the driver of the trolleybus.

Vehicle use

In Krasnodon, trolleybuses of the Soviet type ZiU-9 (ZiU-682) were and are almost exclusively used. The first eight trolleybuses of the ZiU-682V were delivered as early as 1986 , they were given the numbers 001 to 008. All vehicles subsequently delivered were given subsequent numbers of this series. In 1987 a further twelve trolleybuses of the same type were delivered to start operations, and in 1988 another ten. For the network expansion in 1990 two wider ZiU682Vs were added, in 1991 two trolleybuses of the then new sub-type ZiU-682G . In 1993 Krasnodon received one of the first trolleybuses of the Ukrainian type JuMZ T2 . No further procurements were made. After one ZiU-9 was eliminated in 1989, the number was reduced by 19 ZiU-9 from 1994 to 2005. Also in 2005, the ZiU-9 011 and 032 received new car bodies and have since then corresponded to the sub-type ZiU-682G-016 . In 2014 there were 15 trolleybuses in operation, including the 003 and 005 cars from the first delivery.

A Dnipro T103 was purchased in December 2014, and another in April 2015.
