Object monitor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An object monitor (also: object transaction monitor ) is a type of middleware that can essentially be seen as the result of the convergence between TP monitors and object brokers . The name object monitor is made up of the components of these same forms of middleware: object broker and TP monitor .

With the development of the object broker in the early 1990s, attempts were made to specify and standardize the functionality of object-oriented middleware platforms ; It soon became clear that a large part of this functionality was also offered by TP monitors. Conversely, the trend towards object-oriented programming meant that the tried and tested functionality of TP monitors, which was originally used in the context of imperative programming languages , was now also desired for object-oriented programming environments. This development ultimately led to the convergence of both forms of middleware; Essentially, object monitors are TP monitors with object-oriented interfaces .
