Yo Soy Bea is the Spanish version of the internationally successful Colombian television series Yo soy Betty, la fea .

It has been broadcast on Telecinco since July 2006 , Monday through Friday, and most recently reached over three million viewers, which corresponds to an audience rate of 35%. The audience record is 4,096,000 for a special episode broadcast on the evening of December 1, 2006; the highest audience rating was achieved on December 12, 2006 with 37.7% (as of March 2007).

This telenovela is about Beatriz Pérez Pinzón, an ugly but intelligent 26-year-old woman who is employed by a fashion magazine. There she falls in love with her boss, Álvaro Aguilar, the young, newly appointed director of this magazine.

Awards

Yo Soy Bea was voted the best telenovela of 2006 by the readers of Teleprograma magazine, which earned her the TP de Oro award on March 26, 2007 .

Ruth Núñez was nominated for her role as Beatriz Pérez Pinzón for the Fotogramas de Plata and Premios de la Unión de Actores awards in the Best TV Actress category and for the TP de Oro award in the Best Actress category.
