Ochotnicza Rezerwa Milicji Obywatelskiej ( ORMO ) (German: Voluntary Reserve of the Citizens' Militia ) was a paramilitary organization in the People's Republic of Poland , comparable to the fighting groups of the working class in the GDR .

ORMO was founded in 1946 and dissolved by the Sejm in 1989 .

The ORMO had up to approx. 400,000 members, the majority of whom were recruited from members of the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers' Party), but also from the Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe (United People's Party) and the Stronnictwo Demokratyczne (Democratic Party) as well as from non-party members.
