Ochrea

The Ochrea or tute , also sheet boots , is represented by the conversion of the stipules resulting mostly membranous tube which surrounds the base of the following stalk member. Knotweed , for example, form an ochrea .

The expression was first used in 1798 by Carl Ludwig Willdenow .
