Oki Denki Kōgyō ( Japanese 沖 電 気 工業 株式会社 , Oki Denki Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha , English Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. ), listed in the Nikkei 225 , is a Japanese electronics company.

Company history

In 1881, Kibataro Oki founded the first Japanese company to manufacture telephone systems . Today OKI Electric Industry Co., Ltd. a globally significant information and communication technology company .

The OKI Electric Industry Company Limited is one of the 30 largest manufacturers of semiconductors and communication solutions worldwide with total sales of US $ 4.50 billion. The company employs 20,653 people (approximately 6,975 outside of Japan) and has manufacturing facilities in Japan , Thailand , the United States and Scotland . OKI Europe Ltd. (OEL) is organizationally part of OKI Data Corporation (ODC), a 100% subsidiary of OKI Electric, based in Tokyo . The product portfolio of OKI Data Corporation is sold in 120 countries under the brand name OKI Printing Solutions. In fiscal year 2006 (March 31st) OKI Data Corporation recorded total sales of around 1.6 billion US dollars (sales shares: EMEA 50%, North / South America 24%, Asia / Oceania 17%, others 9%). In 2008, the semiconductor business was spun off as Oki Semiconductor and sold to Rohm .

In Germany, OKI Europe (Germany and Austria) markets color and mono LED printers, multifunction devices as well as matrix printers and printing solutions as a sales, service and marketing organization. With its matrix printers, OKI Europe is the market leader in Germany in terms of sales and number of items, with LED / laser color page printers the company ranks third in the overall market, in the business segment with A4 color printers over 10 pages per minute and also with A3 color printers 1.

In Germany , Austria and Switzerland , OKI printers and fax machines are primarily sold through 1,000 authorized OKI dealers.
