A grafting knife is a special, extremely sharp knife that is used in horticulture and tree nursery to refine plants.

It is typically designed as a folding pocket knife with two blades.
Only high-quality stainless steel is used as a material, on the one hand to enable easy disinfection and on the other hand to guarantee a long service life even when cutting woody plant parts.

A blade is a sturdy working blade and is used to roughly cut the plant parts to size. They are ground symmetrically on both sides and are less for extreme sharpness than for a long service life. The second blade (the actual grafting blade) has a very sharp edge and the bark loosener on the opposite side. This tongue has no sharp edges and is to loosen the bark used as the budding or even during lateral Anplatten , this without sensitive cambium hurting.

The Okulierklinge is ground on one side, in such a way that when Kopulationsschnitt the flat side in the direction of the scion or pad and the ground side in the direction of section. This makes it easier to apply a flat cut surface, which ultimately benefits the quick and clean growth. For this reason, differently ground grafting knives are necessary especially for right-handed or left-handed people.
