Oleksandr Prohnimak

Oleksandr Volodymyrowytsch Prohnimak ( Ukrainian Олександр Володимирович Прогнімак ; born January 2, 1958 in Stalino , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian politician and businessman. He is chairman of the Ukrainian Greens Party and the Eurasian Association of Green Parties .

Life

Oleksandr Prohnimak was born in 1958 in Stalino, today's Donetsk, into a family of miners. From 1972 to 1995 he was an officer in the Soviet Army . From 1980 to 1981 he was deployed in Afghanistan . Since 1990 he has also worked as a businessman.

From 2002 to 2008 he was a member of the Kiev City Council . In 2006 he became a department head in the State Department for Environmental Protection of the City of Kiev. In 2009 he became chairman of the new Ukraine Green Party. In 2010 he became the first chairman and co-initiator of the Eurasian Association of Ecological Parties.

Oleksandr Prohnimak acted as a patron for various projects. According to his own statements, he supported the building of a church in Chapayevka in Kiev. He is a collector of antiques such as old maps, books and icons and runs an Art House gallery in Kiev. He supported the construction of the city theater "Kiev".
