Omar Hasanin (born November 15, 1978 in Damascus ) is a Syrian cyclist .

Omar Hasanin was two-time Syrian champion in 2000, in road racing and in the individual time trial . He won a stage on the Azerbaïjan Tour in 2005 and was third overall. He also won a part of the Tour of Milad du Nour and came in second overall. In the road race of the Asian Cup, Hasanin took second place. The next year he was third there and he won three stages in the Azerbaïjan Tour. With these results he was able to occupy sixth place in the final ranking of the UCI Asia Tour 2006 . In 2008 he won the overall ranking of the Tour of Libya and was able to win various sections of international stage races until 2011 .

In 2012 Hasanin started in the street race of the Olympic Games in London , which he could not finish.

In 2014 Hasanin was arrested in Syria for allegedly trafficking in foreign currency. His legs were broken while in detention, so that he has been unable to walk since then and can no longer play his sport.
