Online vocabulary information system German

The online vocabulary information system German ( OWID ) is the portal for scientific corpus-based lexicography and lexicology of the Institute for German Language . It contains scientific online dictionaries on German with different content focuses, a bibliography on electronic lexicography and online dictionaries (OBELEX) as well as the supplementary platform OWID plus . All content on the portal is free of charge.

Among other things, OWID contains the German foreign dictionary (see also foreign word ), an extensive dictionary with neologisms, i.e. H. new words and meanings in German (see also neologism ), elexiko with 1,500 extensively described very common words in German and a proverb dictionary with currently common proverbs (see also proverbs and collocations ). In addition, OWID contains various discourse dictionaries (guilt discourse 1945–1955, protest discourse 1967/1968, keywords 1989/1990).

OWID and OWIDplus are continuously expanded.
