Two weeks after her debut appearance on the show Yūyake Nyan-Nyan ( 夕 や け ニ ャ ン ニ ャ ン , literally: "Miau-Miau in the dusk"), the magazine Shūkan Bunshun published photos of Mika Okuda, Michiko Enokida, Kayoko Yoshino and Miau Kihara, Aki Satō how they smoked in a café and thus triggered the Shūkan-Bunshun smoking incident ( 週刊 文 春 喫 煙 事件 , Shūkan Bunshun kitsuen jiken ). Since minors (i.e. younger than 20 years old) are not allowed to smoke under Japanese law, they had to leave the band on April 25, 1985. However, Kihara was resumed a few days later.
