Operation Arc Light

The Operation Arc Light took place during the Vietnam War and was organized by the USAF executed. The aim of this operation was to keep several heavy bombers in rapid readiness in order to be able to give the ground troops heavy tactical air support if necessary. For political and logistical reasons, Vietnam was no longer the base of operations for the heavy bombers. Therefore, the decision was made for Guam in the Pacific . However, since the approach times were very long, some B-52s were constantly kept in readiness in the air off Vietnam in order to be able to provide support if necessary.
