Oppenhoff is a German commercial law firm specializing in legal advice to international entrepreneurs and companies. The law firm, headquartered in Cologne, is an independent law firm and does not belong to a network or alliance. The firm has around 200 employees, including around 75 lawyers, more than half of whom are partners in the firm.

history

The law firm was founded in Cologne in 1908 in the Becker, Ströhmer and Lang office community with a focus on commercial law. Walter Oppenhoff , who specializes in intellectual property rights, joined the firm in 1930 and led it through the war years, including as an enemy asset manager for Coca-Cola . It was one of the largest law firms in the German Reich. After the war, Oppenhoff continued to expand the firm.

The partners of the firm Boden, Oppenhoff and Schneider exerted significant influence on German legal law. In 1989 they pushed through before the Federal Court of Justice to found regional law firms, which in the mid-1990s led to the firm Oppenhoff & Rädler. The independent auditing and tax consulting company O&R Oppenhoff & Rädler AG , which still exists today, also emerged from this connection .

In 2001 the law firm merged with the English commercial law firm Linklaters . After Linklaters decided to outsource the Cologne office in January 2008, Oppenhoff & Partner was initially only established as an independent partnership in Cologne . In 2013 she opened an office in Frankfurt and expanded the range of advisory services. The law firm has been operating as a partnership company since 2014 . Another office opened in Hamburg in February 2018.

The Walter Oppenhoff Foundation was also created through partners in the predecessor law firms Oppenhoff & Rädler, in honor of the founding member of the same name.
