Opportunistic wireless encryption
Opportunistic Wireless Encryption ( OWE ) is an extension of the IEEE 802.11 standard by integrating an encryption standard for a freely accessible hot spot (WLAN) . OWE is an encryption method that is similar to Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE) and is specified by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in the RFC 8110 standard . Devices that support this standard are certified as Wi-Fi Certified Enhanced Open by the Wi-Fi Alliance .
