history
Julius Freed opened an orange juice stand in Los Angeles , California in 1926 . In 1929, Bill Hamlin, a real estate agent and friend of Freed, developed a drink in which the sour orange juice is more stomach-friendly. Freed began to offer the drink, which had a frothy, creamy consistency. As a result, sales quintupled.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Orange Julius was sold in a variety of stalls.
Orange Julius was the official drink of the 1964 New York World's Fair.
In 1987 Orange Julius was taken over by Dairy Queen .
Since 2012, Dairy Queen has also been offering Orange Julius in its own restaurants.
