Orchestra Academy Ossiach

The Ossiach Orchestra Academy was a training initiative for highly talented orchestral musicians supported by the Austrian state of Carinthia . It was located in the monastery in Ossiach, which was expanded to become the Carinthian Music Academy . The academy was closed at the end of 2013.

The academy was headed by members of the Vienna Philharmonic , the training consisted of topic-related so-called project weeks , which included orchestral work phases, as well as an in-depth study of chamber music literature . Offered were beyond workshops and master classes as well as mental and motivational training. During the training, lecturers, musicians, conductors and soloists taught different schools and traditions. The musicians had the opportunity to rehearse pieces in all chamber music formations and perform them in front of an audience.

Performances

The students of the Ossiach Orchestra Academy also performed as independent ensembles and in various chamber music formations in the Alban Berg Concert Hall in Ossiach. The climax and conclusion of the work phase was a public concert in which the musicians are accompanied by members of internationally known orchestras.
