Order of German honesty

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Order of German Righteousness was an order of knights .

It was donated by Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha in 1690. The order was limited to the court. As a sign of princely grace, some ministers and court cavaliers were also awarded the medal by exception.

The order decoration was a medallion on the chest with the initial letter F for the donor name. The back showed two faithful hands , that is, hands shaking hands. The inscription was the order's motto and read: Fideliter et constanter , meaning loyal and steadfast .

The order soon went under, but around 1833 it was renewed as the Duke of Saxony-Ernestine House Order .
