Order of Merit (Golf)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In professional golf, Order of Merit is a ranking list based on prize money won. The various tournament organizers such as the PGA Tour or the PGA European Tour each have their own Order of Merit. Some tournaments also count for several money lists at the same time, one then speaks of a so-called co-sanctioned event.

In golf, the value of the money ranking is higher than in other sports, in which a world ranking list based on more complex algorithms is usually used. However, the golf world rankings are also gaining in importance since they have become a qualification criterion for many larger tournaments.
