Organic mass

The organic mass of a substance mixture generally denotes its proportion of organic compounds .

Agriculture

The organic mass of a food or feed is the proportion of dry matter that remains after the raw ash has been subtracted . The digestibility of the organic matter is very heterogeneous: While it can be between 95 and 100% for highly digestible food for human consumption, it is sometimes significantly lower for feed for farm animals . Wheat straw has a digestibility of about 50% for ruminants , but about 35% for horses and is largely indigestible for other monogastric animals.
