Orientation day (training)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Orientation day or orientation day is the usual term in youth education and youth work for a one-day or multi-day event for school classes in which the content is participant-centered and is determined by the respective group itself.

The aim is to give young people time, space and a framework for orientation outside of everyday (school) life. In addition, the adolescents and young adults should have the opportunity to address current and future life issues. The school classes should get to know and appreciate the class community as a resource for everyday school life and work to strengthen it. It should be possible to get to know the classmates and the teachers in a different context. In this way, prejudices are made aware, reflected on and broken down.

Sometimes the term is also used in the university sector, as a title for an event for prospective students.
