from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Oropom (also Oropoi ) were a tribe in Karamoja in Uganda . In the past they were largely assimilated into the Iteso and Karimojong groups , who later immigrated to this area. They lived in different places between the Kartwel River , the Chemorongit Mountains and Mount Elgon . According to reports, their language, oropom , was said to have been an isolated language .

They are said to have lived near Mount Moroto first and then migrated west to the plains between Napak and Elgon before being defeated and dispersed by the Karimojong around 1830.
