Orthodox Synagogue (Sopron)
The New Synagogue (Orthodox Synagogue) at Paprét (Pfarrwiese) No. 12 in Sopron , a city in western Hungary , is a listed building in the style of historicism .

The synagogue was built in the neo-Romanesque style in 1890/91 according to the plans of the architect Jänos Schiller (1859–1907) . Inside you can see u. a. the women formed by cast iron pillars . A Holocaust memorial was attached to the facade, the work of the sculptor László Kutas.
history
In July 1944, in 1885, Jewish citizens were deported to Auschwitz . The members of the Sopron Jewish community who returned from the deportation could still use the synagogue, but after 1956 the Jewish community ceased to exist. The Sopron city administration acquired the listed sacred building in August 2005. There should be an exhibition space for modern artists in the building. A foundation was also established for the faithful reconstruction of the synagogue.
